Arizona part of Democratic lawsuit to protect library, museum agency
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes joined a group of states that sued the Trump administration over defunding a federal library and museum agency. Mayes is part of at least 22 Democratic attorneys general who sued Republican President Donald Trump and his officials to protect the Institute of Museum and Library Services, which helps distribute funds to state libraries and sends approved grant money to library, museum and archive programs. The agency is one of seven named in the executive order issued on March 14, which says the agencies must be eliminated “to the maximum extent” under the law and reduce their “statutory functions” to the minimum.
