Phoenix approves ordinance that bans camping near parks, schools

The Phoenix City Council unanimously approved on Wednesday to ban camping within 500 feet of schools, shelters, child care facilities and city parks. The ordinance expands the ban on camping in the city. Supporters said it gets homeless people off the street and into shelters while opponents argued citing homeless people doesn’t work.
