Report: Fewer homeless on streets, more in shelters in Phoenix area
A new report shows roughly the same number of homeless people in the Phoenix area, with fewer on the street but more in shelters. The numbers came from January when volunteers physically counted every person they encountered on the street and in shelters on one night. The count found 9,435 people experiencing homelessness on the night of January 22, including 4,076 people living on the street and 5,359 people in shelter.
