Parents react to Mesa High School student caught with loaded gun
Kids’ parents were shocked to find out that a new weapons detection system at Mesa High School caught a student bringing a loaded gun with an extended magazine to campus. Court records say 18-year-old Joseph Jesse Coops had a loaded 9mm handgun in his backpack with an additional loaded magazine. The Open Gate system, which is basically a high-tech metal detector, uses advanced technology to alert school personnel about the presence of concealed weapons.
