Official: Leclerc extends with Ferrari after 2024
The rumor had suggested it for several weeks: Charles Leclerc would continue to drive for Ferrari after the 2024 season. The Monegasque was reaching the end of his contract, but the desire of the driver and his team was to continue their common adventure.
Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019 after just one season in F1, while he had been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2016. Winner of the F2 championship in 2017, he had driven for Alfa Romeo for racing before arriving at within the Scuderia.
Winner of two Grands Prix during his first season in red, he is the cornerstone of the project now led by Frédéric Vasseur, and the understanding between the two men has certainly played a role in the desire to continue working together.
“I am very happy to know that I will wear the Scuderia Ferrari road suit for several more seasons (the number was not specified, editor’s note)” welcomed Leclerc. “Racing for this team has been my dream since I was three years old.”

Vasseur joined Leclerc at Ferrari at the start of 2023, after they worked together at ART Huge Prix in F3 and F2, then at Alfa Romeo F1 in 2018. The Frenchman is happy to be able to count on his top driver for several years.
“The bond that unites Charles to the Scuderia goes beyond that of an easy driver and a team, since he has been part of the Ferrari family for eight years now, even before wearing the horse emblem rearing up on his road suit” Vasseur said.
“His values and those of our team are closely linked and it is therefore only natural that we agreed to extend our collaboration. We know him for his incessant desire to push his limits and we appreciate his extraordinary abilities when it’s about fighting and overtaking along the way.”
