Recently, Honda has transformed all its activities, now united under the Honda Racing Company banner. The president of the American division of the HRC, David Salters, denies that F1 is a lower priority than before, while the manufacturer will ally with Aston Martin in 2026.

“We’re in Formula 1 now, so we need to make sure we take care of that. We’ll see. All these things are evaluated.” Salters said.

Honda Racing Company wants to highlight the brand’s American programs, while relying on the technical power of its engineers to highlight the F1 program if necessary: “We’ve started this organization, which makes perfect sense. It’s a big step forward.”

“Our first responsibility is North America, for American Honda and Acura. But this opens up other possibilities. Some of our very talented men and women can help in the F1 area, if necessary. We already do a few things for the instantaneous.”

“There could be others. We’ll see. It’s another opportunity. If the WEC comes into play, then we’ll be empowered to take care of that as well, which means we can do things at the on a global scale.”

“As is constantly asked and discussed, these are very high-level decisions in Japan, because this is a global matter. Can we do something right and does it make sense ?We continue to ask these questions and we will continue to examine them.”

A WEC program with the ARX-06 is therefore not excluded, but not a priority: “We will evaluate it. The moment it makes sense to us, we will find a solution. We are constantly evaluating it. We all know it is difficult to predict the future.”

“The No. 1 responsibility, though, is to do a good job here for Acura. That’s what concerns me the most for the instantaneous. Then we’ll look at all of that and see where we end up, which should makes sense for Honda, which makes sense for Acura.”
