Phoenix councilman voices concern about bill to fund D-backs’ stadium
Phoenix councilman Jim Waring is warning legislation that would help fund the Arizona Diamondbacks’ stadium won’t be popular with the public. House Bill 2704 would create a fund where a percentage of sales and income taxes generated from baseball games or events at Chase Field would go toward paying for much-needed stadium maintenance and repairs. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has also opposed the bill, saying it would take $200 million from the city.
