Novel Species of Stegosaur Revealed
Paleontologists in China obtain discovered the fossil fragments from a original genus and species of stegosaurian dinosaur: Baiyinosaurus baojiensis.

Baiyinosaurus baojiensis roamed Earth through the Center Jurassic epoch, about 165 million years within the past.
This dinosaur species used to be a member of Stegosauriaa crew of plant-eating armored dinosaurs that lived through the Jurassic and Cretaceous durations.
Stegosaurs reached a maximum dimension of about 9 m (30 feet). They’d limited heads, peg-cherish enamel, vertical bony plates and spines on their lend a hand and tail, and hoof-cherish toes on all four limbs.

The partial skeleton of Baiyinosaurus baojiensis — comprising a partial cranium, one cervical vertebra, seven dorsal vertebrae and one caudal vertebra — used to be discovered within the Wangjiashan Formation.
“The gaze design is located within the northwestern phase of the Baojishan Basin, belonging to the Pinchuan District of Baiyin City, Gansu Province, China,” the paleontologists said.

The group’s systematic diagnosis reveals that Baiyinosaurus baojiensis is an early-diverging stegosaur connected to Isaberrysaura, Alcovasaurus, Jiangjunosaurus and Gigantspinosaurus.
“Baiyinosaurus baojiensis has some plesiomorphic traits and is transitional in morphology between early thyreophorans and early-diverging stegosaurs,” the researchers said.
“The rising diversity of Center Jurassic stegosaurs that also luxuriate in early-diverging positions means that it’s likely that the stegosaurs ruin up from their sister taxon, the ankylosaurs, early within the Center Jurassic (or mighty earlier).”
