Official: Hamilton will join Scuderia Ferrari in 2025
It’s a real earthquake in the world of F1: Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari in 2025. After increasingly serious rumors on this subject, the arrival of the seven-time world champion within the Scuderia is now official.
This is a very short press release, without declarations which was sent this evening following the Mercedes F1 press release.
“Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will join the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract.”
Hamilton will leave Mercedes F1 to join Ferrari and team up with Charles Leclerc from 2025. The Briton will therefore take on a final challenge in his career after having already surprised the paddock in 2013 by leaving McLaren for Mercedes.
Frédéric Vasseur was therefore able to convince Hamilton, the two men having known each other since 2005, when the Briton drove for the ASM team, founded by the Frenchman. After a title in F3, they won F2 together in 2006 with ART Broad Prix, before Hamilton joined McLaren.
Ferrari will therefore field an impressive duo with Hamilton and Leclerc, who remains at the center of Ferrari’s project. And the Monegasque will be able to benefit from the experience of the Briton to have more keys in the nonetheless of gaining even more consistency.
